Parker’s Comedy & Jive hosts a hot lineup of local and international comics in March, as well as a series of special performances by The Bats, including a benefit concert for veteran comic Eddie Eckstein.
Taking to the funniest stage in Africa this month are US comics Louis Ramey (4-6 & 11- 13 March), a finalist on the series of Last Comic Standing currently being broadcast on M-Net Series and Yoursie Thomas (18-20 & 25-27 March), along with M-Net’s hugely popular Gary The Toothfairy, Celebrity Survivor star Darren Maule, quick-witted Al Prodgers and SA’s Got Talent host Rob van Vuuren.
Dubbed South Africa's answer to The Beatles, The Bats (7, 14, 21 & 28 March) formed in October 1964 and consisted of members Eddie Eckstein (drums/vocals), Barry Jarman (guitar/trumpet/concertina), Jimmy Dunning (guitar) and Paul Ditchfield (keyboard/guitar/bass/vocals). 46 years later, they’ll take to the stage at Parker’s on 7 March for a special benefit show to honour founding member Eddie Eckstein. The Bats will be joined on stage by Kurt Darren, Brian Alexander and Cyril Green as they pay tribute to the veteran comedian.
Parker’s Comedy & Jive is situated near the cinemas at Montecasino at Shop 24, next to the Boogaloos Skate Park and across from Sweets from Heaven. March rocks at Parker's!! The current season of LAST COMIC STANDING on M-net gives Parker's Comedy and Jive LOUIS RAMEY (USA) who you will discover made the top 5 on the show ! Adding some intrigue to the first week's line up will be BEVAN CULLINAN (aka GARY THE TOOTHFAIRY) and hot up-and-coming SA comic SIYA B. The first week at the club will be hosted by JOE PARKER.
Week 2 and AL PRODGERS returns to Parker's with his proudly South African take on the Rainbow Nation along with the ever-observant VITTORIO. DARREN MAULE hosts the Friday and Saturday.
ROB VAN VUUREN of SA's GOT TALENT fame supports YOURSIE THOMAS the second international comic at Parker's in March. Also on the bill is SA's top beatboxer CYBER who is one of the most unusually talented performers on the circuit today. Once again, DARREN MAULE hosts Friday and Saturday.
The final week of the month will be YOURSIE THOMAS' last and he will be supported by top UK comic MARTIN DAVIS and one for the future, MPHO POPS. TONY KING hosts the final week of the month.
It will be great to have THE BATS at Parker's for a month of Sundays commencing 7th March with a benefit for EDDIE ECKSTEIN. Special guests include KURT DARREN, BRIAN ALEXANDER and CYRIL GREEN. |
